Meet Mouse, a bright-eyed little adventurer brought to life from our original hand-painted artwork.

Mouse lives in a tiny house near the Parker household, but he’s rarely far from where the stories are. You’ll often find him in Max’s room, perched nearby, daydreaming big. Some days he’s a cowboy with a daring plan. Other days he’s drifting through the clouds in a hot air balloon. Whatever the dream, Mouse is determined to make it come true, one brave idea at a time.

Designed by hand and lovingly made by hand, Mouse is crafted with care from the original painting, featuring vintage-looking fur and an inquisitive expression that feels full of wonder. With a hand-stitched face and thoughtful details, each Mouse is truly unique (no two are ever exactly the same).

Soft, cuddly, and full of character, Mouse is made to be held close, taken on little adventures, and treasured for years to come. Each soft toy comes tucked inside a matching canvas bag, along with a story card that introduces Mouse’s world and invites little imaginations to wander.

Material

Our Storybook Friends are made with a soft polyester outer and inner filling, chosen for its gentle feel, durability, and ability to hold its shape through years of cuddles and play. Each toy is carefully finished by hand, so every friend has their own little personality.

Care instructions

To keep your Storybook Friend looking and feeling their best:

  • Cold gentle machine wash or hand wash
  • Line dry flat
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not iron

Gentle washing helps preserve the toy’s shape and hand-finished details, so it stays lovely for longer.

Storybook Friends Collection

Each of our Storybook Friends is designed to be more than just a soft toy - they are characters with stories, personalities, and a world to belong to. Every friend begins as a hand-painted illustration in our Perth studio before being thoughtfully brought to life as a soft toy, with hand-finished details that make each one feel truly special. No two are ever exactly the same.

Each Storybook Friend comes with their own story card and access to their audio story in our Story Library, allowing little imaginations to listen, follow along, and grow with their character. These stories turn cuddles into storytime, and soft toys into lifelong companions.

Every character also has their own dedicated collection, so families can build a matching world around their favourite friend - from clothing and blankets to nursery pieces and gifts.

Our Story

Fledge & Thread began with soft furnishings in 2021, when artist and designer Keren Elizabeth Fraser returned to painting (whilst on maternity leave) and started creating the pieces she couldn’t find anywhere else for her children. In 2023 we expanded our ranges into apparel, bedding and accessories for little ones.

Every print starts as an original hand-painted artwork, then we bring it to life through our own pattern making and production, across baby and children’s apparel, bedding and accessories.

How do I choose the right size?

Most styles are true to size with room to grow. If you’re between sizes, we usually recommend sizing up.

What are your pieces made from and how do I care for them?

We use soft Organic cotton and 100% Cotton, with almost all our products. Fabric details are also listed on each product page.

For best care: gentle cold wash and line dry to keep prints looking beautiful 🪿
